Is a Media a Deadly System?

In today's society, it can be almost impossible to avoid any type of advertising or press display. Kids have become targets by the advertisement industry plus some people believe that it has a unfavorable affect. The APA's view is that violence in the media causes assault in children, which is set by the article, " APA Congressional Testimony on Media Physical violence and Children: Testimony of Jeff L. McIntyre for the American Psychological Affiliation. ”

The American Psychological Affiliation believes the fact that media focuses on children not simply positively, yet negatively too. The APA expresses their very own belief that although the multimedia and advertising industry can impact the youth in a positive light, it may also influence aggression, desensitize the acts of violence, and increase a great unrealistic fear of being made their victim (McIntyre 93-94). The APA goes on to help to make a revolutionary statement that, " Just about every exposure to assault increases the chances that, at some point, a child is going to behave more violently than they otherwise would (McIntyre 93). ” Throughout the document, Jeff McIntyre makes serious statements and analogies referring to how the mass media negatively impacts young children. For example , McIntyre the actual analogy the more you smoke the more likely you are to get cancers and that the more a child wrist watches violent TELEVISION, the more likely they are really to become chaotic (McIntyre 93). This is a prime example of a false analogy because smoking is completely different from viewing television, and in no chance, shape, or perhaps form can your two be compared realistically. McIntyre as well talks about just how, " hundreds of studies include confirmed that exposing our kids to a steady diet of violence in the media makes our children even more violence prone…children learn by observing other folks.
