The EU-Japan Middle for Industrial Cooperation began in 1987, under the joint initiative of the European Commission rate (DG Enterprise) and the Japan Ministry of Economy, Control and Market (METI, ex - MITI). The Centre's key mission should be to promote most forms of industrial, trade and investment co-operation between the EUROPEAN and Asia and to improve EU and Japanese companies' competitiveness and cooperation simply by facilitating exchanges of experience and ingenuity between EUROPEAN UNION and Western businesses. In the provision details services, the Centre retains an Information Center (" EU I” Centre) on EUROPEAN specific procedures, statistics, legal guidelines. The Middle also acts as a clearing residence for Japanese information on scientific research, technology and commerce, geared towards European companies entering or perhaps expanding in Japan. As being a complement to the research project, the Centre usually organizes policy analysis workshops – permitting the EUROPEAN and Japan to exchange guidelines in coverage recommendations -- in the following areas: 1) Energy, Environment and Weather change; 2) Trade & Investment; 3) Industrial Policy.
