This kind of famous quote by Milton Fredmen regretfully dictates the particular fundamentals pursuits of culture have become.  In this short story, " Heartache” Anton Chekhov create a main personality " Iona” who had lately lost his son. Iona throughout the story had tried to find someone who he can share his sorrows with yet ultimately failed. It confirmed the self-centered nature of society and its effects about Iona which became his " heartache”. The author applied the story as a strong tool to make a mood of darkness and despair which in turn helped to create the concept of the the declining morals of society. In " heartache” the setting is a necessary device that helps to construct the overall mood in the story. Anton Chekhov employed the weather like a mean to exhibit the dying mood of Iona. " Large flakes of snow are circling lazily regarding the street lights which have just been lighted, setting in a thin gentle laver about roofs, horse's back, householder's shoulder, and cap”. This kind of scene is known as a door into Iona's feeling. At first it is lost, such as a flake of snow dropping, not knowing the results of the future, entirely lost because his son died and letting wind carry future. But as period passes, anything as dropped or since pristine as a flake of snow is going to melt and turn into into grubby sludge quietly of the highway. This Quotation also paints a picture of the well understand grey landscape which can immediately relate to a sense of gloom. Iona was a cabman in the old days of Russia who had been suffering from losing his boy. Iona discovers himself shed and fundamentally isolated through the rest of the world as his mind is wrapped around his deceased son.
